Multics Projects
- It was started in 1965 on main frame GE645 by the joint effect of :-
- AT&T Bell Laboratories.
- General Electrical.
- MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
- Multics was in return in assembly language.
- In 1969 Multics projects was dropped.
- In 1969 KemThanh son & Dennis Ritchie at bell Labs - AT&T redesigned the Multics and introduced new operating system – UNICS (Uniplexed Information & Computing System).
- It is written in 80% of C language and 20% assembly language.
- Later on totally written in C language and named as UNIX in 1973.

History of Linux
- In 1990 Linux Torvalds, A graduate student from university of Helsinki designed UNIX like kernel on 386 Intel machine and gave this to OSF (Open Software Foundation).
- Linux kernel was bundled with many software from various distributed and it gave rise to many flavors of Linux.
